DODOMA, Tanzania – The sixth-phase government has announced plans to establish special industrial parks in every district across the country, a new initiative aimed at boosting production, creating youth employment, and improving the business environment.
The pledge was made by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, during the opening of the 13th Parliament in November 2025, noting that this step is a crucial part of the strategy to build an economically self-reliant nation.
Laying the Foundation for Interconnected Industries
“We will promote the construction of industries that will support other industries, with raw materials and inputs, and industries that will produce goods needed in regional markets,” President Samia said. “The goal of this strategy is to move towards a self-reliant nation.”
This industrial park strategy aims to add value to various Tanzanian products including agricultural, fishing, livestock, and mineral products, and transform them into higher-value commercial goods.
Expanding the Industrial Sector
Recently, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Judith Kapinga, stated that the industrial sector has continued to grow and strengthen, particularly in the production of raw materials that contribute to the nation’s economic development.
Kapinga explained that the government continues to expand the industrial scope to create jobs, increase domestic revenue, and expand foreign trade through the implementation of sustainable policies aimed at developing the sector.
Economic Expectations
The strengthening of industries will stimulate increased production of raw materials, a step expected to increase revenue and continue to improve the business environment for investors and entrepreneurs.
This strategy comes at a time when Tanzania is facing the need to create thousands of jobs for its youth, and to grow the domestic economy by utilizing available natural resources. These industrial parks are expected to contribute to growing the domestic economy and addressing the challenge of youth unemployment, while developing value chains in various production sectors
