Tanzania, as an active member state, was represented by a high-level delegation led by Deputy Minister for Transport David Kihenzile. The delegation included Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation James Kinyasi Millya, Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade Patrobas Katambi, Deputy Minister for Finance Mshamu Munde, and Deputy Minister for Energy Salome Makamba.

The primary objective of the meeting was to identify strategic infrastructure initiatives that will be presented at the upcoming EAC Heads of State Retreat for final endorsement. This endorsement is crucial for unlocking resource mobilization and financing opportunities to support project implementation across member states.

While specific projects were not detailed in the initial report, the meeting’s agenda focused on infrastructure sectors vital to regional integration, including transportation networks, energy interconnection, digital connectivity, and trade facilitation infrastructure.

The identification and prioritization of these flagship projects represent a significant milestone in the EAC’s broader integration agenda. By collectively selecting and endorsing strategic infrastructure initiatives, member states aim to create synergies, attract international financing, and accelerate economic development across East Africa.

The upcoming EAC Heads of State Retreat is expected to provide final approval for these projects, paving the way for accelerated implementation and strengthened regional cooperation in infrastructure development.
