DAR ES SALAAM – The State Visit of H.E. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, to Tanzania marked another milestone in strengthening strategic partnership between the two countries. Hosted by H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, the visit featured bilateral talks, the signing of cooperation agreements, and the Tanzania–Egypt Business Forum, bringing together government leaders, investors and business executives to explore new opportunities in trade, investment and industrial development.

During the forum, President Samia reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to attracting more Egyptian investment through Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA). She highlighted the successful Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project, delivered by Egyptian firms, as an example of the growing partnership and emphasized Tanzania’s strategic location, investor-friendly environment and access to regional and continental markets.

Priority Investment Sectors

The two countries identified energy and power infrastructure, manufacturing and industrial development, engineering and construction, pharmaceuticals and medical industries, agriculture and agro-processing, logistics and transport, financial services, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), and trade and export development as priority sectors for future investment. These sectors are expected to strengthen industrialization, increase trade, attract new investment and create more employment opportunities.

Growing Investment Partnership

The forum highlighted the expanding economic relationship between Tanzania and Egypt. Egyptian investments in Tanzania are currently valued at approximately USD 1.4 billion across 44 registered projects, supporting more than 4,400 jobs. Business agreements exchanged during the visit covered engineering, construction, pharmaceuticals, logistics, fertilizers, food processing and financial services, laying the foundation for stronger private-sector collaboration.

The outcomes of the State Visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of Tanzania and Egypt to promote sustainable investment, industrial growth and long-term economic prosperity.
