ARUSHA, Tanzania – A delegation of leading tourism agents from the United Kingdom is currently on an extensive tour of Tanzania’s iconic national parks and conservation areas, aiming to showcase the country’s unique attractions and strengthen its position in the lucrative European tourism market.

The delegation’s visit underscores a strategic push to provide these influential agents with a firsthand experience of Tanzania’s wildlife, landscapes, and cultural heritage, enabling them to better promote the East African nation to travelers back home.

The delegation was officially received at the Loduare Gate of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area by a high-level government team led by the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Ashatu Kijaji. The Minister used the opportunity to reassure international visitors of Tanzania’s commitment to safety and hospitality.

“Tanzania remains a peaceful and welcoming destination to all visitors across the world,” Dr. Kijaji stated, following an inspection tour of tourism activities in the area. She was accompanied by Deputy Minister Hamad Chande, Permanent Secretary Dr. Hassan Abbasi, and Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) Conservation Commissioner Abdul-Razaq Badru.

Firsthand Experience for Authentic Promotion

The leader of the UK delegation, Debbie Mayger, expressed strong enthusiasm for the trip, highlighting the specific features that had drawn her team to Tanzania.

“We have heard so much about Tanzania. There is strong interest in wildlife tourism, the Ngorongoro Crater, world heritage sites, the Ngorongoro Lengai Geopark, local cultures, environmental conservation, hospitality and the peaceful environment,” Mayger said.

She emphasized that the visit was more than a simple tour; it was a mission to gather authentic experiences for effective marketing. “This visit gives us firsthand experience to better promote Tanzania and we hope to attract even more visitors from the European market,” she added.

Strategic Government-Led Initiative

The arrival of the agents is part of a coordinated effort by the Tanzanian government to boost tourism numbers. Michael Makombe, the Senior Marketing Officer for the NCAA, explained that the visit reflects the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, conservation institutions, and tourism stakeholders to showcase the country’s rich offerings.

“The agents’ purpose in visiting Ngorongoro is to experience its attractions firsthand, promote them and encourage their home markets to continue sending tourists to enjoy Tanzania’s wildlife, cultural, environmental, culinary and historical tourism,” Makombe stated.

The agents, representing the UK-based tourism company Shades of Green, have already explored the diverse ecosystems of Tarangire National Park and the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater. Their itinerary is set to continue to other premier destinations, including the legendary Serengeti National Park, offering a comprehensive view of Tanzania’s northern tourism circuit.
